Under the direction of the Dean of Workforce Development and Instruction, plan, organize, coordinate and implement the daily operations and activities of the Culinary Department; perform a variety of duties related to assisting the instructors, the department, and its initiatives at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC); act as liaison between the Culinary students; leads student workers; identify, order, and purchase supplies and resources for the Culinary Department, attends Culinary Laboratories and provides student support as needed.
- Prepare, set-up, and close culinary laboratories including but not limited to preparing ingredients and tools, pre-set ovens, washing dishes, laundry, sanitizing work spaces, securing leftover food, and returning tools to proper storage.
- Create shopping lists and shop for ingredients.
- Maintain a safe and clean kitchen. Deep cleaning kitchen and it’s appliances on a quarterly, bi-annual and annual basis. Clean, Sanitize, and organize all surfaces, windows, floors and racks of walk-in and freezer, drains, classroom tables and chairs, appliances slide-out trays, grill and racks, ovens and racks, lockers, dish pit, bake shop, offices, dry storage and various other equipment.
- Coordinate credit card reconciliations.
Education and Experience
Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to: Experience or education gained by service in a kitchen, working in a student support environment, or as an aide.
Knowledge of:
Knowledge of:
- Student development and developmental issues related to college success
- Laws and regulations relative to kitchen sanitation practices
- Customer service practices and techniques
Ability to:
- Operate standard office equipment, including a computer and related software
- Analyze problems, correct and recommend solutions
- Using initiative and sound independent judgment within established guidelines
- Organize and prioritize work efficiently
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Collaborate and work with LTCC students, faculty, and staff
- Develop effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
